This colourway was put together for a themed box of fibres, all based on colours from Ancient Manuscripts. I decided first, to focus on what the ancient manuscripts in Britain and Northern Europe were written on. This is parchment or vellum. These were made from animal skins, normally sheep, goat, or calf skins. Vellum is a finer version of parchment, made from the skins of young animals. So, I decided to put together a really soft, warm blend to try to replicate the colour of aged parchment.
I put together some wonderfully warm, naturally coloured fibres - Superfine merino, Baby Camel, Muga silk and Soysilk.
The blend has been blended 5 times, meaning that all of the fibres have been well mixed together. You will not get any streaks of the individual fibres. This makes this blend a relaxing spin, as the longer staple lengths of the muga silk and soysilk make the very short stapled fibres much easier to manage.
