21st November 24 - I have now closed the shop to all pre-orders of fibre. The only available items will be in the 'For Immediate Dispatch' section. I am aiming to send out all remaining orders as soon as possible, and then make up some Christmas specials which will then be added to the section
UK shipping will be sent via Royal Mail (either first class or tracked 48) and all international orders will be sent using a tracked method. Once your item is shipped I will send you an email with your tracking information. Please note - for some of the dispatch messages that I have sent from the shop email address have been delivered to spam/junk folders - so please check these folders to check for replies and tracking information.
These rolags are based on the NASA photograph of the supernova Cassiopeia A. I put these rolags together as part of the first Sampler Box Club, where all of the colourways were based on images from Deep Space.
A supernova is a huge explosion caused when a star over 5 times bigger than our Sun runs out of fuel. The star then collapses. The collapse happens so quickly that it creates enormous shock waves that cause the outer part of the star to explode - leaving behind a nebula and possibly even a black hole.
As you can see, the bright glowing clouds of the supernova of Cassiopeia A is a riot of colour. These rolags are made up of 21 micron merino in shades of red, blue and violet, with baby llama and lashings of golden and light green mulberry silk and Angelina.
The final collage photograph shows a true three ply yarn I made from only 3 Supernova rolags (100g normally has between 6-8 rolags). A light fingering weight yarn was produced, that I knit into an Alaska pattern hat.
The merino and baby llama in this blend will felt. If you do not wish them to felt, hand wash in cool water
