Welcome!

Since I have been away I have been looking into the issues which have cropped up thanks to new regualtions in both the EU and the USA.

I am happy to report that I can now dispatch orders to the EU - hurray!

As for the tarriff situation in the USA. The information that I have gained is that individuals can import upto $800 in a single order before tarriffs and other taxes will be levied. However, as the situation has been changing rapidly, it may be advisable to check for any new rules changes with your customs authorities.

If you have any questions, or would like to discuss a custom order, please contact me at

Ladies of the Lakes Rolags - 100g

£21.00

I adore Herdwicks, they have beautiful smiling faces and are hardy animals that can live unaided on the fells. Their colours change through life, the lambs normally starting out pitch black, with white tips to their ears, this black fleece then changes to a chestnut brown in their first year. Finally, this changes to grey as the ewes age. These lovely ladies are a year old, otherwise know as 'Gimmers'. I love the way these ewes have positioned themselves on the rocks to survey their area of fellside.

I tried to use naturally coloured fibres as much as possible in this blend. I have used Suffolk, Merino D'Arles, Corridale and New Zealand fibres, plus to get just the right shade of russet/chestnut, I have blendeded chestnut merino with more Merino D'Arles

Most of these natural fibres are not as soft as merino, so would not be considered as suitable for next to the skin items. The fibres are more bouncy than merino, so the resulting yarn will have more body - great for a hat or gloves.

You will receive 100g of rolags (between 7-9 rolags) in 'Ladies of the Lakes' colourway. The fibres in this blend will felt. If you do not wish them to, hand wash in cool water.

With many thanks to Angela Irving who has kindly given permission for me to use her beautiful photographs of Herdwicks.
