Blackthorne is now flowering in the hedgerows. So, on a sunny spring lunchtime I decided to photograph the tiny white flowers that are blooming at present on the small trees - before the leaves start to unfold. This is the origin of the name - the starkness in contrast between the white petals and the dark brown bark of the tree.
These rolags are made from beautiful pedigree Border Leicester fibre for the white petals and dark brown/black zwartables fibre for the bark. Through these fibres I have added thin streaks of green, mango and yellow silks to represent the sepals, anthers and stigma of the flowers.
The Border Leicester fibre and Zwartable fibres are not as soft as merino. Some people may not find these fibres suitable for next to the skin wear (especially around the neck area), however, I would happily wear them as mittens, socks or even as an outer garment like cardigan.
The Border Leicester and Zwartables fibre will felt. If you do not wish them to, please hand wash in cool water.
You will recieve 100g of rolags in the Blackthorne colourway.
Please note : at present rolag dispatch may take 1-2 weeks
